Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted her legislative work and concerns about healthcare access through a series of posts on social media.
On December 18, Salinas posted about a meeting with leadership from Oregon Health & Science University: “I met with Oregon Health & Science University President Dr. Shareef Elnahal in my D.C. office to discuss their impactful work — from groundbreaking research to delivering world-class patient care. We will continue working together to ensure OHSU remains a leader in innovative,” she wrote.
The following day, Salinas addressed the potential loss of health insurance for one of her constituents due to Congressional inaction: “In two weeks, Ariya will lose her health insurance unless Congress acts. Sadly, Speaker Johnson sent the House home until NEXT YEAR, which is after the deadline to extend the ACA tax credits, the same ones that Ariya relies on. I refuse to let this happen.” This statement underscores ongoing debates over Affordable Care Act tax credits and their impact on individuals’ coverage.
Later on December 19, Salinas encouraged constituents to review her annual summary: “NEW You can now read my full year in review on my website by visiting https://t.co/fDR2d6U2RI. Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
