Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to share resources and commentary on food assistance and community support.
On October 31, 2025, Salinas posted a message encouraging Oregonians in need to access help: “If you or a loved one needs help with food, rent, utility, or additional resources in Oregon, please follow the thread. More resources can be found on my website at https://t.co/t91kPX8RCu Share and save the resources below Food Resources https://t.co/0CYkBjaWVx Rental”.
The following day, November 1, 2025, Salinas criticized Republican lawmakers for their stance on food assistance programs. She wrote: “Republicans are denying food assistance to 42 million Americans — including 16 million CHILDREN, 8 million SENIORS, 1.2 million VETERANS, & 750,000 OREGONIANS. The Trump Administration is breaking the law by refusing to use contingency funds. They must follow the law & issue https://t.co/rLjt9BEWd6”.
On November 2, 2025, Salinas marked Día de los Muertos with a call for remembrance: “On Día de los Muertos, we come together to remember and honor the lives of our loved ones who are no longer with us. Today, I invite you to celebrate them, including your pets, by putting out their favorite meal, fotos y recuerdos. Feliz Día de los Muertos “.
Salinas was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Before joining Congress in 2023 as Oregon’s representative for the newly created sixth district—a role she assumed after serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023—she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
