Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to discuss aspects of her work and highlight issues important to her constituents.
On August 14, 2025, Salinas posted about her role in Congress, stating, “The Life of a Congresswoman.” Later that day, she addressed the significance of Social Security for Americans and particularly for residents in her district. In a tweet dated August 14, 2025, she wrote: “Millions of Americans rely on Social Security to receive their survivors’ benefits and disability payments, allowing them to lead comfortable lives. I will not stop fighting for the over 143,000 Oregonians in #OR06 who rely on this lifesaving program.”
On August 15, 2025, Salinas acknowledged a major philanthropic contribution by Phil and Penny Knight to cancer research at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She stated: “We all owe Phil and Penny Knight an incredible debt of gratitude. Their $2 billion donation to OHSU cancer research gives families 2 billion more reasons to have hope for a cure. This funding puts OHSU even more prominently on the map for their world-class cancer research. I”
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969, Salinas is currently a resident of Tigard and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in 1994.
