Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on May 6, 2026, addressing support for nurses, celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and advocating for community safety.
In her first post of the day, Salinas expressed gratitude toward healthcare professionals: “Today and every day, we thank our hardworking, dedicated nurses in #OR06! Nurses have our back, and I have theirs. I will keep fighting in Congress to ensure that healthcare workers have the support, resources, and funding they need to keep delivering quality care. Happy” (May 6, 2026).
Later that evening, she acknowledged the contributions of diverse communities: “Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! As a member of @CAPAC, I am proud to honor these communities, their rich culture, and the many contributions they have made to Oregon and to the United States.” (May 6, 2026).
Salinas also addressed public safety concerns in another post: “Making sure our communities are safe is a top priority for me, and I shared that with the Oregon Chapter of Moms Demand Action. We need to implement commonsense policies to put an end to gun violence in America.” (May 6, 2026).
Andrea Salinas has served as the representative for Oregon’s 6th District since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. She was born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently resides in Tigard. Salinas graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
