Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of updates on March 31, 2026, highlighting her recent activities and policy positions.
In one post, Salinas thanked participants for attending an event focused on voting rights: “Thank you to everyone who joined me, @RepJoeMorelle, @ORSecretaryRead, and Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess to hear about how we are fighting to protect Americans’ access to the ballot box https://t.co/4gNqbl6Idx” (March 31, 2026).
Later that day, she recognized the contributions of farmworkers and their role in the Latino civil rights movement. She shared a personal connection by referencing her father’s background: “March 31 is about farmworkers. We honor the workers, women, families, and organizers whose tireless work puts food on tables and whose courage helped drive the Latino civil rights movement. My father came to this country from Mexico and worked the fields of the Rio Grande Valley” (March 31, 2026).
In another update regarding immigration enforcement facilities in Oregon, Salinas stated: “ICYMI: ICE has no plans to build or expand detention facilities here in #Oregon. Last month, I demanded answers to make sure no new ICE detention centers would be established in our state — and we got that confirmation. https://t.co/yAkCxPzO9q” (March 31, 2026).
Andrea Salinas has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after previously holding office in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas earned her BA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
