Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared updates on her official Twitter account regarding wildfire management and community outreach efforts.
On May 7, 2026, Salinas criticized the previous presidential administration’s approach to wildfire preparedness, stating, “The Trump Administration has gutted the U.S. Forest Service and other agencies that deal with wildfires, leaving communities even more vulnerable to deadly wildfires. Yesterday, @RonWyden, @SenJeffMerkley, @RepBonamici, and I met with the U.S. Forest Service to talk about how we”.
Later that day, Salinas posted about her visit to local organizations in Polk County: “I was in #Polk County touring the Family and Community Resource Center, where they work to connect people with resources and local services. These are just two of the many essential organizations people across #OR06 rely on every day. I will keep fighting to ensure every Oregonian has access to the support they https://t.co/IfSJIYHfRD”.
Salinas’s recent posts reflect ongoing concerns over wildfire vulnerability in Oregon as well as her focus on supporting local resource centers and housing initiatives for youth. She is joined in these efforts by fellow lawmakers including Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley.
Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, Salinas has a background in public service that includes six years in the Oregon House of Representatives prior to her election to Congress. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
