Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently used her social media platform to express concerns about proposed expansions of ICE facilities and changes to environmental regulations.

On February 12, 2026, Salinas stated, “.@SenJeffMerkley and I led the Oregon congressional delegation in demanding answers from ICE and DHS about their plans to expand ICE facilities. Whether it’s in #Oregon or across the nation, you deserve the truth.

Later that day, Salinas reiterated her opposition to a new detention center in Newport. She wrote on February 12, 2026: “Oregonians don’t want or need an ICE detention facility. I won’t sit by while ICE tries to tiptoe around the fact they are trying to open one in Newport.

I led Oregon’s Democratic members to demand ICE and CBP tell Oregonians the truth about what they’re planning. You deserve to”

In a separate issue addressed on February 12, 2026, Salinas criticized recent federal environmental policy changes: “BAD NEWS The Trump Administration just TERMINATED emission standards, giving big corporations the green light to pollute our air.

This is terrible for our environment and terrible for our health.
