Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of statements on December 18, 2025, addressing issues ranging from migrant rights to worker protections and economic affordability.
In her first post on International Migrants Day, Salinas expressed solidarity with migrants and criticized previous federal policies: “On International Migrants Day, I stand with those seeking safety and opportunity. The Trump Administration’s cruel and inhumane policies have caused needless suffering across our country and undermined our American values. Migrants deserve dignity, fairness, and an opportunity” (December 18, 2025).
Later that day, Salinas commemorated the anniversary of legislation aimed at supporting pregnant workers: “Today is the 3rd anniversary of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act! This historic legislation gave pregnant & postpartum workers the right to accommodations like extra breaks, flexible scheduling, time off to recover from childbirth or miscarriage, and much more. #PWFA” (December 18, 2025).
Addressing economic concerns in a third post, Salinas critiqued former President Donald Trump’s approach to affordability: “President Trump spends more time pretending there’s no affordability problem and passing the blame around than actually trying to fix anything. Distractions won’t help pay the bills. Only action will.” (December 18, 2025).
Salinas has served as a member of Congress since January 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard, she holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
