Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who represents Oregon’s 6th District in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on February 25, 2026, expressing her positions on national leadership and paying tribute to a former colleague.
In a post published ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address, Salinas announced her decision not to attend. She wrote, “President Trump will deliver his State of the Union address tonight. I will not be attending. No amount of lies or blame can hide the fact that President Trump has failed you, your family, and the American people.” (February 25, 2026).
Later that evening, Salinas acknowledged members of the armed forces while criticizing presidential leadership. She stated on social media: “Thank you to our service members who make untold sacrifices to uphold the values of our country and defend the Constitution. I wish your commander in chief would do the same.” (February 25, 2026).
On the same day, Salinas expressed condolences for Senator Rod Monroe. In her message she said: “I am sad to hear about my former colleague and friend, Senator Rod Monroe. Sen. Monroe was dedicated to improving opportunities through education for all Oregonians so that everyone could lead healthy and happy lives. He leaves a lasting legacy, and my thoughts are with his” (February 25, 2026).
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969 and currently residing in Tigard at age 53, Salinas earned her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley in 1994.
