On May 1, Salinas posted a message marking International Workers’ Day: “Happy #InternationalWorkers’ Day! I’m proud to stand with our workers and to celebrate the work they have done to build our nation’s infrastructure and strengthen our economy. You can count on me to keep fighting to build on that progress.”
Later that day, she criticized Republican lawmakers’ proposed funding allocations: “Republicans should focus on lowering costs instead of giving another $70 billion to ICE and CBP.” The statement refers to ongoing debates over federal budget priorities, particularly around immigration enforcement agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
On May 2, Salinas highlighted National Apprenticeship Week by sharing details about her recent visits to union apprenticeship programs in Oregon: “It is #NationalApprenticeshipWeek. Over the past few weeks, I have visited a handful of Oregon’s union apprenticeship programs to see firsthand the training workers receive. As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, I am working to strengthen apprenticeship programs and ensure union-led”
Andrea Salinas has served in Congress since 2023 after previously serving in the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023. Born in San Mateo, California in 1969, Salinas currently resides in Tigard. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1994.
