The City of Gresham is disappointed to share that Measure 26-239, the Gresham Safety Levy, did not pass in the May 16 special election. The City proposed this five-year operating levy to fund police, fire, homeless services and mental health crisis response.
“While we are disheartened by the outcome of this vote, we greatly appreciate the outpouring of support we have seen from our community over the last few months,” said Mayor Travis Stovall. “Like so many other Gresham votes before, this one truly came down to the wire. The closeness of this vote clearly illustrates just how important every single vote is and how valued our police, fire, and homeless services teams are to this community.”
Gresham City Council will meet on June 6 at 4:00 pm to discuss fees, the use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and service reduction options moving forward.
