Andrea Salinas, representing Oregon's 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, shared several pointed remarks regarding current policy issues affecting her constituents through her social media account on April 2, 2025. Her insights highlight various challenges faced by local communities, from food assistance to educational services and emergency response support.

On April 2, 2025, Salinas addressed the reliance of approximately one-sixth of Oregonians on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for family sustenance. She criticized efforts to reduce the program amid rising inflation and high grocery prices, stating, "1 in 6 Oregonians rely on SNAP to feed their families. Yet Republicans are trying to slash this critical program at a time when inflation is going up & grocery prices are sky high. As a member of @HouseAgDems, I'll keep fighting to protect food assistance for working families."

Subsequently, Salinas criticized the abrupt closure of the Seattle Head Start office, which impacts Oregon, and the immediate termination of its staff. She expressed concern about politicizing children's education, sharing, "The Seattle Head Start office, which also serves Oregon, was abruptly shut down and all staff were terminated. Helping children learn shouldn't be a partisan issue—but this Administration is making it one by firing workers and cutting off funding that our kids need to succeed."

Later that day, Salinas reported a meeting with several Oregon fire chiefs, including representatives from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Clackamas Fire District. The discussions focused on ensuring that firefighters receive appropriate mental health care and support. She stated, "I met with several Oregon fire chiefs, including Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Clackamas Fire District. We discussed how we can work together to ensure firefighters receive the mental health care and support they deserve. Thank you for your bravery & commitment to keeping us."
