Mt. Hood Community College issued the following announcement on June 10.
The reopening of MHCC’s indoor pool will be delayed several weeks beyond our anticipated reopening date of Monday, June 13 as we work to make a final repair.
When attempting to refill the indoor pool following the installation of a new variable frequency drive, a butterfly valve and shaft controlling water flow into the pool malfunctioned and broke.
Our MHCC Facilities Team has been hard at work to source a quick replacement and repair, but the earliest delivery date means we are forced to delay the reopening of the indoor pool area.
The reopening of the 50-meter outdoor pool will not be affected, and we will move forward with the opening of this part of the facility as planned. None of our rental groups or planned events in the next few weeks will be affected by this delay.
We will provide an additional update with the new reopening date for the indoor pool when we have more solid information. Please check mhcc.edu/aquatics for the latest information.
We thank the community for their continued patience and understanding of these challenges.
