90

A Clackamas County grand jury has indicted Jason Lee Savage, age 53 of Estacada on three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Firearm), two counts of Coercion and Felon in Possession of a Firearm stemming from a domestic disturbance on Dec. 22, 2022.

The grand jury also found that the use of deadly physical force by Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputy Isaac Baily was justified and lawful when responding to Savage’s pointing a firearm towards the deputy.

On the evening of Dec. 22, Deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic disturbance with a firearm in the 2100 Block of South Jubb Road, near Estacada.

Deputies moved family members from the home to safety as members of the Crisis Negotiations Team communicated with Savage, who was armed with a handgun.

Savage sustained non-life threatening injures during the incident. Deputies at the scene provided aid until the Savage could be transported to an area hospital.

In accordance with standard protocol, the Interagency Major Crimes Team conducted an investigation into the domestic violence incident as well as the use of force and presented the findings to the grand jury.

This investigation was led by detectives from Lake Oswego Police Department with the assistance of Major Crime Team member agencies and the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

Savage was arraigned on Jan. 18 with the trial set March 3 .

This case is on-going and additional information will not be provided at this time.
