On Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office conducted a retail theft operation at Oak Grove Fred Meyer.

The nine-hour shoplifting detail included CCSO Patrol deputies and detectives working alongside Tigard PD Commercial Crimes Unit detectives and Fred Meyer loss-prevention personnel. It led to 13 custodies (11 adults and two juveniles) on multiple charges, as well as the recovery of nearly $2,000 in stolen items.

During the operation, law enforcement contacted retail thieves ranging in age from 16 to 44 as they exited the Fred Meyer at 14700 SE Mcloughlin Blvd. in Oak Grove. Recovered stolen items included a customer's electric scooter, which one suspect stole while it was parked outside the store. Another suspect was observed shoplifting items from display shelves, taking them to the customer service desk, and returning them as if he'd purchased them.

The Jan. 18 operation follows and a Dec. 6, 2022 shoplifting detail at Home Depot and an Oct. 27 shoplifting detail at DICK'S Sporting Goods, Macy's, Kohls and Spirit Halloween.
