Get Creepy! Winter Reading 2023

Bookssss

Escape from the rain & fog of winter days with programs and prizes during... **Get Creepy: Adult Winter Reading 2023**This year's theme is not about horror films and scary books. Instead, we welcome the dark days of winter with unique and fun programming for adults. "Get Cozy" is so last year. Now it's time to "Get Creepy."

Adult Winter Reading is for teens aged 16+ and adults.

Guidelines:

Reading logs will be available at the circulation desk beginning Tuesday, January 17. You may also download the log at the bottom of this page under the files section. Unlike our Adult Winter Reading theme, the reading log is not creepy, but a cool, attractively designed chart you will want to use to track your reading all year long. The last day to turn in your reading log is March 15. Keep your log once your raffle entries are recorded if you wish to continue tracking your reading for 2023.

For every five books you read or listen to, you will earn a raffle ticket towards gift cards from local Estacada businesses. The books you read are yours to choose from, but please only record adult and young adult books.

Attend Adult Winter Reading Programs, listed below, to earn an extra raffle ticket for each you attend.

Winners will be chosen by raffle on March 16, 2023, and notified by phone. You need not be present to win.

Join starting January 17, and keep the winter doldrums at bay!

Programs:

Remember, you earn a raffle ticket for each Adult Winter Reading (AWR) program you attend. AWR programs also feature giveaways of books and other prizes!

Stories of the Paranormal ~ Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023 - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

The founders of NW Paranormal will talk about the haunted history of Oregon and places in Estacada with heightened paranormal activity. Robert & Renee will share how they became involved with paranormal investigations. Listen to stories, ask questions, and examine photographic evidence.

This class is appropriate for older teens and adults, although there are no age restrictions. Parents and caregivers should use their judgment on whether young adults in their care should attend.

*Murder Mystery Party ~ Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Enjoy playing the murder mystery game "Killer Among Us," a lively, social game that will take twists and turns during the evening. The game is played with cards you will use to:

 A. check off suspects from your game board

B. interact with other players - trade clues, form alliances, plant a red herring, haunt players, and more, depending on which cards you use to interact with others.

C. Work to solve the game by being the first to give the correct solution, including the name of the murderer, weapon used, and motive.

*Reservations are not required, but players will be limited to the first 35 who attend.

*Wet-felted Snakes ~ Friday, Mar. 10, 2023 - 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

You've heard of needle felting, now try wet-felting with this cute garter snake craft. Decorate your snake with sunglasses or a pirate eye for extra cuteness. We will watch professional felter Lebrie Rich's instructional video together as a class. This craft is easy for beginners and fun for intermediate felters learning a new technique.

*Ages 16+; Reservations are required. Register using this link.
