At the January 10, 2023 City Council meeting it was bittersweet for the City Council to accept Councilor Annessa Hartman’s resignation on the Gladstone City Council. A copy of her resignation can be accessed HERE. We wish State Representative Hartman all the best with her new position and look forward to our continued partnership at an elevated level.The City Council then declared a vacancy on the council and will fill the vacant seat in accordance with Gladstone Municipal Code Chapter 4.03. For those interested in the interim term, the application can be accessed below.  The application deadline is March 8, 2023.The interim term will continue until a Special Election on November 7, 2023 where candidates may file for election to fill the remainder of the unexpired term to expire 12-31-2024.Qualifications: (Gladstone Municipal Code - Charter Chapter VII - Elections, Section 27)

(a) The Mayor and each councilor must be a qualified elector under state law, reside within the city at least one year immediately before election or appointment to office and remain a resident of the city during their entire term of office.

(b) No person may be a candidate at a single election for more than one city office.

(c) Neither the Mayor nor a councilor may be employed by the city.

(d) The Council is the final judge of the election and qualifications of its members based upon this chapter.
