Police 04

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Mar. 24.

Please reference CCSO Case # 22-006677

A suspect is in custody on robbery, menacing and theft charges after allegedly stealing items from an auto-parts store and threatening an employee with a handgun.

At 5:43 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at the AutoZone located at 10722 SE 82nd Ave. in unincorporated Clackamas County.

The suspect -- later identified as Demarcus Donte Roundtree, 34, of Portland – reportedly walked out of AutoZone with multiple stolen items. An employee followed Roundtree into the parking lot and asked if he intended to pay for the items. Roundtree reportedly yelled at the employee and produced a handgun. Roundtree then fled the scene in a silver Cadillac sedan.

Responding Sheriff's Office Patrol deputies located Roundtree in the suspect vehicle on SE King Road, in a parking lot near the AutoZone. Roundtree spotted deputies and fled; deputies pursued. The pursuit ended on a dead-end street after Roundtree drove the Cadillac up a small grassy hill near Southeast Mullan and Southeast 54th Street and got stuck; deputies then took Roundtree into custody.

Roundtree was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, cleared by medical personnel, then booked into Clackamas County Jail on the following charges:

• ORS.164.415 -- Robbery I

• ORS.163.190-1 -- Menacing

• ORS.164.045-1 -- Theft II

• ORS.811.540-2 -- Attempt to Elude a Police Officer

Bail was set at $265,000. Complete booking info is here: https://web3.clackamas.us/roster/#inmates
