LINN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Linn County Sheriff's Office Arrest Male For Strangulation

Police

Linn County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Apr. 15.

Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports yesterday at 11:42 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call of a female being strangled in the 3200 block of NE Millersburg Drive, Millersburg. The caller reported a male, known to her, had choked her and left the location.

Deputies responded to the location and learned Ernesto Arturo Ibarra-Ramos, 50, of Salem caused the female to lose consciousness after Ibarra-Ramos began to strangle her. The incident occurred after a verbal argument turned physical. Deputies searched for Ibarra-Ramos and were not able to locate him during the evening and early morning hours.

Deputies continued to search for Ibarra-Ramos and located him driving to work around 8:53 a.m. this morning. He was taken to the Linn County Jail where he was charged with the felony crime of Strangulation.

Sheriff Duncan stated, “Strangulation is one of the most dangerous domestic violence crimes.  When someone is strangled, they are 750% more likely to later be killed by their offender.  I would like to commend the deputies and detectives who worked diligently to find Ibarra-Ramos and take him into custody.”
