Clackamas County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on county Advisory Boards and Commissions (ABCs). These ABCs offer residents the opportunity to become very involved in specific activities and the goals of Clackamas County.
Individuals interested in this opportunity can apply online or via a paper form that can be obtained from the Public & Government Affairs Department by calling 503-655-8751 or in person at the Public Services Building at 2051 Kaen Road in Oregon City.

Clackamas Community Health Council
The Council currently has openings for 14 additional members, comprised of consumers, patients, and clients only. The Council oversees operations, budgets, and quality measures at the Health Centers clinics throughout the county. Per federal requirements, the Council must be composed of a majority of patient members, therefore current patients (or their guardians) will be given priority to join the Council to maintain compliance. The Council conducts business through public meetings that are held from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm on the third Wednesday of each month in the County’s Development Services Building in Oregon City.
Note: Due to COVID-19, meetings are held in a virtual format until further notice.
Council members are not required to have expertise in healthcare, but should be interested in improving the quality of care and patient experience in the Health Centers. Council members should be comfortable working with a diverse group of people and willing to reach consensus on various topics and make recommendations to Health Centers Leadership and the Board of County Commissioners. Individuals who represent all geographic areas and demographics are highly valued by the Council.

Veterans Advisory Committee
The Clackamas County Veterans Advisory Council is committed to ensuring that Council membership reflects the diversity of Clackamas County residents. The Council actively seeks members from all regions of the county, all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations and cultures. The Veterans Advisory Council’s nineteen members advise the Clackamas County Board of Commissioners and the Department of Health, Housing and Human Services on all matters relating to the provision of services to veterans, their families and dependents, ensuring that their needs are recognized and addressed in a timely manner. Veterans Advisory Council also makes recommendations regarding current issues affecting veterans, their families and dependents. Meetings are the 4th Thursday, 2:30p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Mental Health & Addictions Council
This council has 8 openings, each of which carries a three-year term. The council advises commissioners and the county Behavioral Health Director on community needs, gaps in services, barriers and priorities related to providing mental health and substance use services (including education, prevention and treatment), review grant proposals or other funding requests for state funds as required by ORS 430.350, and other grant requests as feasible, and provide a link to the community at large through advocacy, public information, and education.
This council has ten (11) meetings that are scheduled each year on the fourth Tuesday of the month (typically there are no meetings in December) from 4:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. These meetings are currently being held virtually via Zoom we will go to a hybrid format of Zoom and in-person when allowed. Meetings are held at our Clackamas County Mental Health Crisis Clinic at 11211 SE 82nd Ave, Suite O, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Individuals or parents/guardians of children or teens receiving mental health or substance use services are encouraged to apply. More on MHAC can be found online.
As a council, we are looking for members that are representative of the county’s diverse populations and ideally will represent different ethnicities, religious beliefs, geographic locations, socioeconomic statuses, physical abilities, career experiences, educational backgrounds and/or other diversity and be able to participate consistently.

North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District – Milwaukie Center Community Advisory Board
The board has one opening, which carries a three-year term. The board is the primary policy advisor regarding the activities and operations of the Milwaukie Community Center, and also addresses the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in the area. Duties include addressing the programs and facilities of the Milwaukie Community Center concentrating on the needs, and desires of the senior citizens and others within NCPRD boundaries. Board members must either live or work within the NCPRD boundaries.
The Milwaukie Community Center is a North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) facility. The board meets on the second Friday of each month at the Milwaukie Community Center.
