Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon's 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, announced new federal funding for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde on December 12, 2024. Salinas emphasized the impact of climate change on rural and Tribal communities with limited access to housing and services. "I am excited to announce new federal funding for the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in my district. All Oregonians are feeling the effects of climate change, particularly those living in rural and Tribal communities with limited access to housing and services."
Salinas also highlighted her commitment to working alongside her colleagues to secure similar investments for Oregon's 6th District. "I will continue working with my colleagues to secure investments like this one for #OR06."
The funding is intended to establish a resilience center that will serve as a safe haven during extreme weather events and ensure continued access to essential services such as health and education for the Grand Ronde Community. "This resilience center will provide a safe, warm place to shelter during extreme weather & ensure continued access to health, education, & other key services for the Grand Ronde Community."
