Oregon City Public Library will be partnering with the Oregon City School District and Oregon City Parks & Recreation to offer Dance Dance Oregon City: Bollywood, a free community dance event for all ages and abilities.
DJ Prashant from Bollywood Dreams Entertainment will provide a 30-minute interactive dance lesson, followed by a 60-minute dance party featuring contemporary dance music from India.
The same event will be offered at three different locations in Oregon City and Beavercreek:
- Friday, September 9 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Beavercreek Elementary School
- Saturday, September 17 from 10:00-11:30 AM at Oregon City Public Library
- Saturday, September 17 from 3:00-4:30 PM at Tyrone S. Woods Park
Research shows that synchronous rhythmic movement (aka dancing in a group) helps individuals address the lingering impact of past trauma and strengthen bonds within social groups. Dancing together is a powerful opportunity for healing, both individually and as a community.
The Library hopes to offer future Dance Dance Oregon City events in 2023 and welcomes suggestions from the community. If there are styles of dance you’d like to learn or teach, please let us know!
More information about the event is available online at go.lincc.org/ocdance.
This program is supported in part by a generous donation from the Oregon City Library Foundation.
