Congresswoman Andrea Salinas, who has represented Oregon's 6th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared her views on President Trump's address via social media. Prior to serving in Congress, Salinas was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives from 2017 to 2023.
On March 5, 2025, Salinas tweeted about her guest for President Trump's address: Bubba King, a Yamhill County Commissioner and local dairy farmer. She noted that they had discussed "his priorities and how we can work together to protect rural Oregonians from the Administration’s harmful policies." "My guest for President Trump’s address is Bubba King, a Yamhill County Commissioner and local dairy farmer. Before the speech, we sat down to talk about his priorities and how we can work together to protect rural Oregonians from the Administration’s harmful policies."
Later that evening, as she headed to the Capitol for President Trump's speech, Salinas expressed her commitment to defending Oregon families and values regardless of what was said during the address. She emphasized her unwavering stance with: "We’re on our way to the Capitol to hear from President Trump. No matter what he says tonight, know this: I’ll always defend Oregon families and values when they come under attack. Full stop."
Following President Trump's speech, Salinas conveyed her dissatisfaction with its content through another tweet. Criticizing what she described as lies and unfulfilled promises detrimental to working families, she explained her decision to leave early in protest: "Tonight, President Trump spewed more lies and continued to ignore the reality that his policies are hurting working families – not helping them. In protest, I decided to leave the House Chamber early rather than listen to more false promises from a wannabe dictator."
